A closer look at selected pieces from my Thinking Model sculpture series, developed as part of my PhD
These sculptures explore extraction, transformation and contamination and have been developed through sand casting techniques and kiln-cast with a mixture of post-consumer SLS and float glass waste. Because of contamination, this glass cannot be reused in large-scale production cycles and would generally be landfilled. I embrace contamination as an aesthetic and conceptual force that embodies the volatility of disrupted landscapes. These thinking models become a path through which to sense the abstract, complex, and immersive scale of landscape transformation occurring in the Anthropocene.
